Who We Are

We are a small team of craftspeople, service leaders, and continual learners. We are each dedicated to making a difference by using our strengths and talents individually and collectively. We are a roll up your sleeves and figure it out kind of bunch. We thrive on teamwork and finding creative ideas to solve new problems. We believe in supporting our community in finding beautifully crafted solutions to reuse furniture and help decrease the ever-growing solid waste and carbon emissions problem.

Our Core Values

Craftsmanship

For over 100 years we have been building and refurbishing furniture. Our expert craftspeople are dedicated to the craft and take pride in bringing your vision to life with the highest level of quality and detail.

Service

Servant leadership is at the core of who we are and what we do. Our project management service is key in making sure your project comes to life in the right way and in the right time. We strive to make your project easy for you, take care of all the details, and make sure you hit your timeline. Whether it’s a small project or a massive one, our expertise is managing all types of projects so you can rest easy.

Partnership

The best results always come from true partnership. We work to build strong long-lasting partnerships with our clients so that we can make a positive difference together. Through open exploration, strong communication, listening to understand, and open brainstorming, we aim to be your problem-solving partner.

Stewardship

We believe in being a steward of our planet, our people, and our brand. Refurbishing furniture is a way to decrease carbon emissions, keep solid waste out of the landfill, and add new life to quality-built products.  Paying a living wage, providing healthcare, profit sharing, and creating an environment where our people can thrive and grow is non-negotiable. We believe in the legacy of this 100+ year old brand and its ability to make a positive impact.

Community

Our goal is to make a positive difference in our community, provide a needed service, and work with local partners, artisans, and suppliers. Together we can help build opportunity for skilled labor force, decrease carbon emissions and waste, and help create a stronger service based connected local economy.

History

Kay Chesterfield began in 1921 when the Kay family started a furniture manufacturing company that became one of the biggest suppliers in the western United States.

Manufactured in Oakland and Los Angeles, they created quality crafted furniture that would be passed down for generations. As time passed, these quality pieces carried on but would need new upholstery and a fresh look to match the current design trends. As years went on, and global trade expanded, most of the furniture manufacturing moved over seas. However, the need for upholstery and furniture refurbishment carried on, and so the shift from largely manufacturing at Kay Chesterfield to primarily refurbishment began.

Today, our goal is to continue to be that partner helping our community keep their quality furniture out of the landfill with the best service, quality, and craftsmanship possible. Both our heritage and our future are built on Craftsmanship, Service, Partnership, and Stewardship.
